Central location, you can walk or bus to many destinations, great restaurants within the area, close to shopping, less than 5 minutes walk to the bus for the airport. Can be noisy at night but you get that in any city.

Convenient to Lambton Quay, clean and has everything you need for a few nights. Having a washing machine was great.

I recently travelled to Wellington for two nights to attend WoW. The James Cook was very conveniently located for this event and was only a quick walk to the event venue. One of the lifts down to Lambton Quay was undergoing maintenance for the three days we were there and this did create some significant queues and wait times around busy periods. The room was a good size and generally clean, although a deep clean of the room is needed as there were definitely areas of the room that were noticeably neglected - especially under the bench in the bathroom and the corners of the rooms, under furniture etc. I was also disappointed that although this is a hotel, there was no mini-bar. There was a mini-fridge but it was empty and after a long day and a long flight, this would have been welcomed. The noise levels from other guests in the corridors was also very noticeable, so there are some noise-proofing improvements that could be made. Otherwise a generally pleasant stay.

Acoustics were terrible in my room on the third floor, able to hear neighbours and people in the corridor easily. The fridge was very loud throughout the night as well.
